The Reiki Precepts
|
About the PreceptsThe Japanese language is written in kanji, each “word” represented by a character that can have different meanings given its context. Therefore each translation of the same material from Japanese to English can be done using quite different words; the essence, however, remains very much the same. Mikao Usui taught these Precepts to his Reiki students and instructed them to use them as described below. This particular version of the Precepts was translated directly from a copy written in Japanese by Mikao Usui. Dr. Tom Rimer, Chair of the Department of Far Eastern Studies at University of Pittsburgh made this translation at the request of Linda Keiser Mardis. I am very grateful to Linda for sharing this translation with me; it sings to me in a special way – I love the directness, simplicity, and clarity of Dr. Rimer’s translation. |
